REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

January 23, 2012

 

The Mechanicsville City Council met in special session on Monday, January 23, 2012 at City Hall.  Mayor Boyd A. Stine called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.   Council members present for roll call were Rob Davis, Pam Cavey, Calvin Paup, Deanna Cook and Pam Logue.  Others present included Alan Zerbe, Jim Barber, Doug Cook and Matt Shields.

 

Receive visitors/public comment:  None.

 

CONSENT AGENDA:  Calvin Paup motioned, Deanna Cook seconded to approve the consent agenda including the agenda and minutes from 1/9/12. Roll call vote: Ayes: Paup, Cook, Davis, Cavey, and Logue.  Nays: None.  Motion carried.

 

During the budget work session council reviewed requests from the Fire Department regarding a new truck for $190,000 and replacement radios needed to become narrow band compliant by 1/1/13 for $30,000.  Other discussions on storm water improvements estimated at $529,300; pay increases of 4%; increase part time police coverage hours; carpet cleaning at the library and exterior painting and a water spigot installation; installation of a security door at city hall;  removal of the dead trees in the right of way based on the tree inventory and recommendations done by the DNR; a future street sweeper; televising the existing storm sewer for needed repairs; a review of existing utility rates and possibly creating a storm water utility fund; and the need to issue general obligation bonds in order to complete some of the projects.

 

Set next regular meeting date: Monday, February 13, 2012.

ADJOURN:  There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, council member Calvin Paup motioned, Rob Davis seconded, to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 p.m. Ayes all.  Meeting adjourned.
