Minutes City of Mechanicsville

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

October 21, 2013

The Mechanicsville City Council met in special session on Monday, October 21, 2013 at City Hall. Mayor Boyd Stine called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.   Council members present for roll call were Pam Cavey, Pam Logue and Dee Cook. Rob Davis arrived at 5:10 p.m. Calvin Paup was absent.

CONSENT AGENDA: Dee Cook motioned, Pam Logue seconded to approve the consent agenda including the agenda and minutes from 10/14/13. Roll call vote: Ayes: Logue, Cavey, and Cook. Nays: None. Absent: Paup and Davis. Motion carried.

Discussion and possible action on Interviewing Candidates for Public Works Director: Iowa Code 21.5 section i. To evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session. Each candidate will be given the opportunity to request a closed session and the council will then vote as to whether to hold a closed session to discuss or act upon the matter. No requests for a closed session were made. Council interviewed Matthew McAndrew, Chad Bonser, Melvin Hanson and Nicholas Lange. Dee Cook motioned, Pam Cavey seconded to offer the position to Nicholas Lange at $17.50 with a review in 90 days. Ayes: Cook, Logue, Cavey, and Davis. Nays: None. Absent: Paup. Motion carried.

ADJOURN:  There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, council member Dee Cook motioned, Rob Davis seconded, to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Ayes all.  Meeting adjourned.
